The title sticky fingers usually has connotations of theft but in the case of a mixed media artist it means she's back in her studio. Hip hip hurray! See the mess below? That's the proof ! The gentle ebb and flow of the studio rhythm is finally filtering in after the festive season break.
I've only been dabbling mind. Below is a picture of a tote bag that Julia once gave to me. It has pockets back and front for photographs but I've decided to make some little collages instead. Now working this small is a challenge in itself. My smallest painting is 50x60cm (20"x24") and these little collages are roughly 9x10cm (3 1/2"x4"). Its a first for me but as with the felt bag I'm having fun fun fun.
There are 9 pockets each side so I have a few more to go yet.
Once finished I will knuckle down to finish that portrait I started last year. Then its more of the same until I feel confident enough to do any one's portrait. Ha! Will that ever happen? Oh well, I will just practice, practice, practice anyway and see what happens. I just hope I don't insult any of my friends when I endeavour to paint their portraits. Just remember I'm just starting out. By the way, you're next Vanita.

Ooooh, the bag is going to look great! And I really like the felt bag too. You've been doing very well Uta, the censor has no chance gaining a hold of you.
I think this is a great idea, what an original bag! I've just seen your wonderful felt bag too and left a comment.
No, I don't see any mess. You should see my artroom! And I love your tote bag collages! I think we need to start exchanging newspaper pages!
Elena, I thought there for awhile that the censor was going to win. I get so scared of going backwards. My fears and insecurities have held me back for so long and I'm scared of going back there. All ok now though.
Chrissie, I wish I could get more of those bags.
April what a good idea exchanging news paper pages!
These collages are fantastic! I love the colors you use as well as the images. I agree with April. A newspaper exchange would be great fun.
Hi Uta, I thought your portrait was coming along just great. I can't wait to see more, and of other people.
Your idea for the bag is genius! I've seen women with these before, but they always had baby pictures in the pockets. Your little collages will look fantastic.
I really like your bag!
what a great idea...I am going to keep my eyes open for one
Loved the felt one too
lucky Vanita
I love how the collages all relate to each other, yet each is special. Sounds like you've warmed up your art motor!
WOW! What a great bag! I'm out of it and hadn't seen anything like that. I did have a little clear purse that hospitals and some businesses require of their staff. It was an exercise in keeping orderly... but I gave it up and got a suitcase bag again that fits a sketchbook, camera, and date book wherever I go. Maybe some snacks...
I hope to finish all the little collages today as I want to use the bag tomorrow. But its getting boring. 18 little collages. Eh what was I thinking.
