What's in a Name???

Today I entered the richest portrait prize in the world. How did I ever get brave enough to do that??? Is it really courage that helped me to enter or is it purely out of need??? How do you 'make a name' for yourself in the art industry? In order to have good sales of your work you need to have 'a name'. In order to get that illusive 'name' you need to have good sales. How??? What do I need to do??? I work hard at developing my artistic skills and I also work hard at building my confidence but is there anything else I should be doing? Just turning up at the easel doesn't seem to cut it. Small steps, one day at a time, faith, positive thoughts, confidence. All of these are good advice and I have followed them. Now what???

I'm hearing ya...It takes some time to get your name known. Word of mouth is still one of the best ways. I'd love to get my name known too in the creative doll world. I've checked out some of your older posts. Your work is great :)

UTA! You DID IT!! You entered!! I still remember you talking about doing it and it seemed so long ago. Oh I am so proud of you. Of course I don't know anything about selling art but I just read a quote that said "do what you love and the money will follow". So I suppose it's all about trust now. Perhaps there are other marketing tools to use in conjunction w/ what you're already doing. Postcards of a specific work that can be handed out? Hanging you work in a library or restaurant? I don't know, like I said. So sorry for babbling! Hugs and congrats & will keep my fingers crossed.

You take one step at a time, one risk at a time, and the Universe opens up. I have found that "one thing leads to another" and it's also true of art. Congrats on taking the risk!

So very excited for you! If you take this award, you won't need to develop your name, you'll already be there! Now let's hope they get a really good judge!
