Two Months

I have struggled since Christmas to get back into a proper flow. These down times really scare me. I don't like them and I struggle to free myself of their hold. This time its been a little over two months to get back into the swing of things. But its over for now so I'm just going to enjoy being back in the studio. I have just finished another large(ish) painting. I am still to tackle the huge canvas a bought a couple of weeks ago ..... fear ... but that's another story hehehe.

The Bottles
acrylic on canvas

Glass is so hard to do, but you make it look easy. This is quite wonderful. I love the cast shadows, and the cork in the short bottle. I am also very impressed with the size. Beautiful!

Miki, I like to do things larger than life. Its somehow more powerful. Wish you could see it in its actual size. The trick with painting glass is to use black. Most people think you have to use white because its transparent but if you really look its black. Ok lesson over hehehe.

Doris of course I have an old bottle collection, all covered in dust and cobwebs for the authentic look hehehe. These however aren't old and do get washed occasionally.

Oh Suz, a genius??? I don't think so but I sure liked the compliment hehehe. Censor made me squirm a bit though. And the light going through the bottles casting the shadows was what attracted me to this image when I took the photo. Really enjoyed painting this piece :)

I've been struggling with my creative process too for the last few months. Knowing I'm not alone is reassuring and there is light at the end of the tunnel. And see what has emerged here after incubation period. Interesting about using black in the glass. Have to remember that. I've never tried painting glass before. You've inspired me. Oh and always love the unique Uta touch each piece has. More, please!!!!

You are such a wonderful painter, Uta. Glass! So difficult (always afraid to even try it). Thanks you for the hint about black. Always love to zoom in and see what's in your background too. So many "treats" in your pieces. The hiding background and then your expert painting! Love that "blooming brilliant",Chrissie!
