Grocery Shopping and Some More Pics...

My life is slowly getting back into its normal rhythm after being in Sydney. I haven't been in the studio yet as I had to catch up on some chores. Today was market day. Although grocery shopping can be a drag the sites and smells of the market always inspires me. It brings out the hunter gatherer instincts. I recently acquired a stack of food magazines. I loved so many of the recipes that I decided to cook a new recipe every day next week. This made shopping a whole lot more interesting as I had to source the different ingredients. A lot of them from the Asian Grocery Store. Now the only problem is deciding what to cook first. I don't mind cooking for special occasions but I don't like cooking the everyday meals so this should make it a whole lot more interesting.

As you can see there are more shots from the Sydney trip. The good thing is you don't need to look. This means I don't have to feel like that boring person that forces their boring holiday snaps on you.

Touching the Sydney Opera House (yes those big white arches are all tiles).

Glorious Fresh Food

I suppose you think I've been a bit of a snob lately. No new post for ages! Life is just rolling along, one day after another and I feel like nothing really interesting has happened for me to blog about. Does anyone else ever go through that??? Well today being Friday means its shopping day. I usually go to the market but felt I should put in another morning at gym so I shopped locally instead. When I saw all my lovely fresh fruit and vegetables sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to be put away, I just had to take a picture. We are really lucky to have all this glorious fresh food to eat.

I have been reading the memoirs of one of my favourite artists, Jeffrey Smart. He's still considered an Australian artist even though he now lives in Tuscany. He grew up in the area where I live and when he describes the things he did and the places he hung out I can totally relate. I hung out in the same places as a kid only it would've been some 30 to 40 years later. It makes me feel very close to him. He went to school in the school down the road and he even became an art teacher in Goodwood Technical High School (always known as Goody Tech). Its closed now but it was always of interest to me as a teenager as it was a school for boys hehehe. Anyway I think I might be able to get a few more chapters in before dinner time so I'll be off. Its winter so its ok to lay about inside where its nice and warm reading books isn't it?

The Christmas Rush

Things are starting to get really hectic now. Trying to keep up with my everyday stuff and also do all the extra things associated with the Christmas season. Little by little I'm getting through it. Would like to still fit in a little gardening as we have a garden party for Christmas and it needs some weeding and a little pruning.
Wednesday is Vanita's birthday. We are spending the afternoon together doing some mindless shopping and then we will go out to dinner to celebrate. I haven't seen her for so long. She will be coming for Christmas and so is my other good friend Kris. We basically have open house. Bring your own drinks and a plate of food to share and we all spend the afternoon and into the night out in the garden listening to cheesy Christmas music and eating way too much. We do this on Christmas Eve because that's the German tradition. Christmas day lunch we are going to Bob's daughter and son-in-law's place. So far the weather hasn't been too hot. Fingers crossed it stays like that.
No art was done today. I'm hoping I can still squeeze in a little art time before Christmas. I'm in such a creative flow at the moment its a shame to interrupt it. Time out with family and friends will do me good though. Have to refill the well sometimes.

Friday is for Shopping

Another week has gone by and its Friday again. That means market day and time to buy the provisions for the nest week. The market always brings out the hunter gatherer instincts in me. Very grounding and good for the soul I reckon.
